Hand-held board-like objects used for writing or drawing, either written upon directly or used as a support for paper or another material. For artifacts rather than equipment, particularly artifacts upon which something has been written, use "writing tablets (information artifacts)." For larger boards for writing, use "writing boards (writing equipment)."
